CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Dr. Constance Glass and Dr. Christine Molloy, obstetrician/gynecologists at Summit Women’s Group – Chambersburg, get to experience the joy and excitement of welcoming new babies into the world at Chambersburg Hospital on a regular basis. Earlier this month that joy and excitement touched a little closer to home, as one of their patients delivered a healthy baby boy in their office at the Summit Health Center, 12 St. Paul Dr., Chambersburg.
On the morning of September 2, Deidre Bumbarger, Chambersburg, who was 37 weeks pregnant, woke up and knew something didn’t feel quite right.
“I was feeling some contractions and called the doctor’s office. I spoke with a nurse and she told me I should come in and get checked out,” Bumbarger explained.
When Bumbarger arrived at Summit Women’s Group – Chambersburg, she was in active labor.
Dr. Glass quickly assessed the situation. “I realized she was very far into labor, and I was about to experience a first in my 24 years of delivering babies. This little bundle of joy was not going to wait long enough for us to make it to the hospital.”
“I said, ‘we’re going to have a delivery’,” she recalled, “Dr. Molloy came in to help, and in just a matter of minutes he was born. It could not have gone any better.”
Bumbarger and her husband welcomed their son Rylan at 9:42 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces.
Both were taken to Chambersburg Hospital following the delivery, as office staff offered congratulations and a standing ovation. Both mother and baby are doing great, with no complications.
It was a morning the doctors, nurses, and patient say they won’t soon forget. A few weeks after the delivery, Bumbarger brought Rylan to visit with the doctors and office staff who helped bring him into the world.
“I’m just so happy with how everything went and it was so great to have both Dr. Glass and Dr. Molloy here, everything just worked out,” said Bumbarger.
