CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Summit Urology Group is pleased to announce that Dr. Ashish Behari has joined the practice.
A native of South Central Pennsylvania, Dr. Behari previously worked at Urology Care Alliance in Philadelphia before coming to Franklin County. He graduated from the combined 6-year medical program between Penn State University and Jefferson Medical College.
Additionally, he completed his urology residency and a urologic oncology fellowship at the National Cancer Institute of Health. He has also practiced in Washington, D.C. where he instructed urologists in training at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital resident program.
Dr. Behari served as an urologic oncologist with a focus on robotic and minimally invasive surgery for Kaiser Permanente as part of the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group.
“My interest in urology is mostly related to the impact of new cancer surgeries and technology,” he said. “There is room to build cancer services here in Franklin County and I’m looking forward to providing that service so patients don’t feel like they have to travel far away to receive great care.”
Dr. Behari is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a member of the Society of Urology Oncology. He has completed more than 500 robotic procedures during his career.
“Urology as a practice is always on the cutting edge of technology, especially with robotics,” he said. “I’m excited to start expanding the scope of what’s being done with robotics in Franklin County.”
Dr. Behari also offers testosterone replacement therapy for men who present with low testosterone levels and other related issues, such as decreased energy, depressed mood, and reduced libido. Patients can get injections, gels, and pellet implants as treatment.
Outside of work, Dr. Behari enjoys spending time with his wife, kids and extended family – his parents still live in Mechanicsburg – and exercising.
