Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine: I enjoy helping other and always knew I wanted to work in health care. I worked as a CNA in high school and while I was in college working toward my RN. I then worked 9 years as a RN in both the emergency room as well as the OR. I also worked as a RN case manager for a hospice company while finishing my graduate degree for to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. I briefly worked for an orthopedic office right out of school however I missed taking care of the patient as a whole. I felt that Family medicine was a better fit for me as I can take care of individuals across the lifespan.
What I want my patients to know about me: I was born and raised in the Waynesboro area and was actually a patient in this same office for many years. I enjoy getting to know my patients. I focus a lot on disease prevention through education on how they can improve their health as well as educating them on any existing health problems and helping them to make better choices so they can continue to live a fulfilling life. I listen to my patients about their health concerns and work with them to come up with an individualized plan of care.
What I do when I am not seeing patients: I am a busy mom of 3 children and enjoy spending any free time I have with my husband and children. I enjoy traveling and being outside. I also love making crafts and crocheting.
