Q: What led you to work in Pain Medicine?
Answer: My initial experience as a PA was in Orthopedic Surgery, followed by a stint in Internal Medicine. I enjoyed aspects of both specialties, but found that they were not the exact niche for me. Pain Medicine is an emerging and evolving field of medicine that encompasses interventional procedures, medication management, adjunctive therapies and a bit of psychology.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your career?
Answer: Throughout my time as a PA, I have enjoyed helping to restore people to an active life. Chronic pain takes a toll on people physically, mentally, and emotionally. The goal is to bring the patient’s pain level to a place where they can take control of their lives and get back to the things that they enjoy doing.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about being a part of Summit Health?
Answer: As a provider, I have found Summit Health to be a very supportive organization. I am impressed by the level of community involvement, but more importantly by the high standard of care.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of your career?
Answer: Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities. My husband and I like to attend concerts. We also like to take in the outdoors and hike, trail run or take our 3 dogs for walks. Mostly, though, I enjoy the simple things like reading, yoga, meditating and spending time with friends.
