Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine: I fell in love with Labor and Delivery as a nurse for 16 years but I felt like I could do more. Getting into Medicine as a Certified Nurse Midwife answered this calling. Having the opportunity to get to know women and their families during their pregnancy, labor and birth is wonderful, but also caring for women throughout their lives is so rewarding. I love seeing women throughout their lifespan; from 11 years old throughout their 90's.
What I want my patients to know about me: I grew up in the Midwest. I have always had a career in Women's healthcare. I am passionate about empowering women. I love knowledge and education. I love giving women of all ages the information and tools to live their best lives with informed choices and active participation in their health. I love pregnancy, labor and birth as well. My favorite is the moment of birth, not just because of the birth of the newborn, whish is amazing, but because of the birth of a mother, a family, and the look of awe on the woman's face of power and strength and pride.
What I do when I’m not seeing patients: When I am not working I love spending time with my husband and adult children. I love to garden and landscape. You may see my husband and I walking in Waynesboro. We love to travel and explore, we regularly walk and hike. I also love scrapbooking and card making- paper-working. We have a puppy that also keeps me rather busy.
