Q: What led you to work in behavior health?
Answer: I became a registered nurse in 2010. At that time, behavioral health was the first job I got and I fell in love with it. I had always thought I would go into surgery, but I really like this area of health. I went back to school in 2012, and in 2014 I graduated as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.
Q: What drew you to begin practicing in the Franklin County area?
Answer: I grew up in Maryland, but when I got married we moved to Needmore. However, we're now back in Maryland and I wanted to find a great job nearby.
Q: What would you say is a common misconception about behavioral health?
Answer: A lot of people think psychiatrists throw medications at a problem, but I know for certain that medicine isn't the first thing we're use. There's therapy, exercise, having someone to talk to, and so much more. We take a holistic approach to treating patients.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working in Franklin County?
Answer: I had always worked on the inpatient side of things, which I loved, but outpatient appeals to me because I love getting to know patients, watching them improve, and developing a relationship with them.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of your career?
Answer: My husband and I just welcomed a baby, so spending time with family. I also enjoy running and I live on a farm, so that keeps me busy.
