Q: What led you to work in General Surgery?
Answer: Surgery can give a patient instantaneous results; we have the ability to cure our patients. This gives a lot of satisfaction to us, our patients and their caregivers.
Q: What drew you to begin practicing in the Franklin County area?
Answer: My wife works in Central Pennsylvania, so that brought us to the region. I was drawn to work in Franklin County because of need for additional surgeons.
Q: What would you say is a common misconception about Surgeons?
Answer: Most people think that surgeons are unapproachable. We are busy, which doesn’t help that stereotype, but we are never too busy to listen to our patients and to take the time to answer their questions and concerns. I never want patients to be afraid to ask me questions or to talk to me about something. I am here to help them, and to meet their needs.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about working in Franklin County?
Answer: I am most looking forward to the opportunity to help patients. Franklin County has a large elderly population, and many of them have complicated medical issues. Often, I’ve observed that patients wait too long before going to the doctor when something doesn’t feel right. I hear their rationale of – I can handle the pain, or it’s not too bad. I want to help educate our community members about coming forward about medical issues earlier, to give them the best hope for recovery.
Q: What hobbies or interests do you enjoy outside of your career?
Answer: I really enjoy traveling to new places and exploring new towns. Recently, I traveled to Costa Rica, which was incredible. I also enjoy reading and audio books.
