Why I chose to pursue a career in medicine: I decided to go into medicine because it brings me great satisfaction to make an impact on a patients life with the care that I provide. I personally have had multiple family members that have had conditions impacting them on a daily basis, which has been an additional driving force in pursing to become a nurse practitioner. Additionally, critical care holds a very special place in my heart which is why I chose a career in Pulmonary.
What patients should expect when they come to an appointment with me: I feel that I am very passionate about the work that I do as a provider. I strive to ensure care to my patients is delivered that exceeds expectations. I especially enjoy critical care as I have worked in this environment for over 5 years. I am a huge advocate for family centered care as well.
What I do when I'm not seeing patients: I am a huge advocate for NAMI where I work with the local chapter along with national campaigns to make differences for our fellow veterans with mental illnesses in our communities. I am an active member on the disaster action team for the American Red Cross which includes helping individuals in the community/national affected by disasters. I enjoy spending most of my free time with my three beautiful children and ice hockey as my two boys play travel ice hockey. Other things I do in my spare time includes hiking, spelunking (caving), gardening, reading, and violinist.
