CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Summit Plastic Surgery and Skin Care Center is pleased to welcome two new faces. Physician Assistant Carrie McMahon and Licensed Esthetician Brooke Ryder joined the practice in October and January, respectively.

Carrie McMahon, PA-C

McMahon joined the practice after working in the Hagerstown, Md., area for the past 18 years. Surgery has always been a passion of hers and this opportunity has been a welcomed change for her.

Since joining the practice, McMahon said she has been pleasantly surprised to see just how far the scope of plastic surgery reaches, from cosmetics to reconstruction.

“Plastic surgery is very technical and involves a deep knowledge base,” she said. “People think it is all cosmetics, but the reality is that the majority of what we do is medically necessary.”

McMahon enjoys working alongside Dr. Wayne Ledinh, who trained at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic. She is looking forward to advancing her knowledge of dermatology, including treatment of skin cancers and rashes, as well as continuing to learn new surgical skills.

Outside of work, McMahon enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and two daughters, as well as running, gardening and cake decorating.

Brook Ryder, Licensed Esthetician

Ryder joined the practice after receiving her license and previously worked in other capacities for Summit Health. A Franklin County native, she said her mom’s work as an esthetician helped her develop an interest in the field.

“Growing up, I always enjoyed skin care and I liked learning how different products and techniques improve our skin.”

She noted that when people think of aesthetics, they often think it is limited to “facials and waxing.”

“There are so many treatments that go beyond the surface, like microdermabrasion or the Forever Young BroadBand Light laser treatment, which treats red spots, brown spots and other skin damage.”

Ryder looks forward to serving familiar faces and getting to know new faces.

“I’m also looking forward to helping patients address their skin care needs and incorporating new treatments like facials.”

Ryder said she is excited to offer facials at the end of more intense treatments like micropeels.

In her spare time, she enjoys photography, spending time with family and planning her September wedding.
