Summit Health doctor named Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Iwona J. Janicka, MD, a Summit Health hospitalist was recently named a Senior Fellow of Hospital Medicine by the Society of Hospital Medicine.
The award recognizes Dr. Janicka for demonstrating advanced experience in the principles of leadership, teamwork and quality improvement as well as significant contributions to the specialty of hospital medicine.
“I was very happy to learn that my years of hard work, with the aid of my wonderful colleagues at Summit Health, were being recognized,” she says of the recognition. “It was certainly one of the highlights of my career.”
Dr. Janicka was recommended by Summit Hospitalists’ Dr. David Hoffmann and Dr. Frank Mozdy and applied last November. She was notified in February and was officially recognized at the Society of Hospital Medicine’s annual conference in May.
Dr. Janicka attended the Silesian School of Medicine in Katowice, Poland, before interning at the Siemianowice Burn Center in Siemianowice, Poland. She completed her residency training at the Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine, in Hershey.
