Kent earns board certification in palliative care
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – W. David Kent, MD, of Summit Palliative Care and Mercersburg Family Care, has earned board certification in Hospice and Palliative medicine from the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Dr. Kent describes Palliative care as, “a patient-centered and family focused service for patients who have life-threatening or life ending illnesses. “
“Using a team approach including physicians, nurses, social workers and clergy, Summit Palliative Care seeks to alleviate the distress of physical symptoms, comfort those in emotional distress, suggest solutions to social problems and encourage those with spiritual concerns,” Dr. Kent explained.
“Our palliative care team is a valuable resource to the patient and his or her primary care provider who is treating the illness,” Kent continued. “We focus our efforts on treating the patient and family as persons who are experiencing the devastation of serious illness.”
