CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.  – Summit Health has planned an event to educate local employers on mental health issues people face in the workplace, including stress management, depression and suicide prevention.

The free event, Mental Health in the Workplace: Stress Management, Depression, and Suicide Prevention, will be held Wednesday, September 28, at the Norlo Park Community Center.  Networking and breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., with presentations and panel discussion to follow.

The presentations will provide information and statistics on stress and change management, the effects of depression on productivity and the workplace environment, suicide awareness and prevention, and local resources and trainings.

This is the second such offering hosted by Summit Health’s Wellness at Work program, which educates employers on health information and offers preventative screenings and wellness education for employees.

“We received fantastic feedback from employers who attended our inaugural roundtable in May,” explained Employer Relations Specialist Jamie Goetz. “We plan to continue Employer Wellness Roundtables quarterly to help integrate our Wellness at Work program into the Franklin County Community.  We strive to find useful and relevant information employers can take back with them to help their employees achieve improved levels of mental, physical, and emotional wellness.”

Registration for the event is strongly encouraged by September 26 at noon. You can register online here.  More information on the Wellness at Work program can be found here.
