CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Applications are now being accepted for Summit Health’s 10th annual Premedical Summer Work Experience.
The four-week program lasts from Monday, June 6, through Friday, July 1, and is open to premedical students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university who plan to become a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.)
The program offers premedical students the opportunity to work in hospital, specialty practice and family practice settings. Students selected to participate will receive a scholarship from the Summit Health medical staff, dependent on total participation and completion of program requirements.
“This experience gives students the chance to help clarify their interests in becoming a doctor and gain a better understanding of the various facets of healthcare,” said Director of Provider Resources Maribeth Fish. “For those students who ultimately apply to medical school, participation may prove very helpful since it indicates a greater interest and familiarity with medicine.”
Space is limited and applications with supporting materials must be received by Provider Resources no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26. The selection committee will give priority to students who:
- Graduated from a high school in Franklin or Fulton counties in Pennsylvania or Washington County, Maryland.
- Have completed their Sophomore or Junior years of college by May 2016.
