Here for you every step of the way
Making the decision to undergo a total joint replacement isn’t always a simple one. We understand there are many things to take into consideration, from choosing a surgeon, completing necessary lab work, and of course making care arrangements during your recovery and physical therapy. That’s why we are proud to offer our Total Joint Program, offering our patients support before, during, and after their joint replacement surgery.
Participants will attend a class prior to their surgery to help them understand more about their procedure and recovery. In addition, preoperative testing will be completed and participants will meet with a surgical nurse to review your medications and past medical history.
Our Total Joint Program has a dedicated Nurse Navigator, Tammy Grissinger-Martin, who has been with the Chambersburg Hospital for more than 12 years. She started her RN career as a clinical nurse on the orthopedic floor and then transitioned into the clinical manager role for 7 years. She helped develop the Total Joint Program, and enjoys working with participants to help them prepare for and recover from their surgery.
Marcia Whitmore is a registered nurse who works with the Total Joint Navigator. Marcia has years of experience in Summit Health, with her most recent experience in the recovery room and surgical services. Marcia assists Tammy in the daily activities of the Total Joint Program to include: teach and coordinate orientation classes, review medical necessity, and work on performance improvement for the program.
