CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (Aug. 31, 2015) – The family of the late Kristin Runyon and Chambersburg Hospital have chosen Heather Martin of Shippensburg as the fifth recipient of the Kristin Runyon Memorial Scholarship.
Heather is a registered nursing student at Harrisburg Area Community College and plans to graduate with her Associate’s Degree in May 2017.
She was selected to receive Kristin’s memorial scholarship for many reasons, including her academic success and personal values, said Barbara Runyon, mother of the late Kristin Runyon.
“Her compassionate spirit, commitment to excellent patient care, and community involvement reflects the qualities and attributes of a nursing professional,” Barbara Runyon said.
“As a current Chambersburg Hospital employee, we are proud to financially support an individual of her caliber as she pursues her nursing education.”
The Kristin Runyon Memorial Scholarship awards $3,000 each year to a student currently enrolled in a full-time registered nurse education program. The student must have a minimum grade point average of 2.8 and be a resident of Franklin County or the surrounding communities.
Applications for the 2016 scholarship are available from Chambersburg Hospital’s Human Resources Department and online at www.SummitHealth.org/runyon.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, scholarship application, official transcript, one academic and one clinical letter of reference to the Human Resources Department at Chambersburg Hospital, 112 N. Seventh St., Chambersburg, Pa. Applications are being accepted until June 30, 2016.
