CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Why wait for the perfect time to overhaul your lifestyle when you can “Get Fit Now” with help from a month-long class series offered by Summit Health?
The class series, Get Fit Now, will kick off Jan. 9 and continue every Monday through Feb. 6.
“This is a comprehensive class series aimed at giving participants the tools that will get them started on their path to wellness,” said Manager of Community Health Nickie Fickel who will lead the sessions.
Classes will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. in the second floor conference room of Summit Health Center Building 2. Class session dates and topics include:
- Jan. 9 | Self-assessment and Goal Setting
Participants will get started with a self-assessment, goal setting and an introduction to using a FitBit (payment of $50 is required up front, but will be reimbursed to participants who have attended all classes.)
- Jan. 16 | “Me, cook?”
Getting organized, planning, grocery shopping and quick meal fixes. Participants will explore strategies to simplify healthy eating that work for the long haul.
- Jan. 23 | “Why did I just eat that?”
Thinking before eating. Mindless eating versus mindful eating. Participants will gain tools on how to handle eating at restaurants and during special occasions.
- Jan. 30 | “Am I really hungry?”
Eating for health and nourishment and not for emotional or other reasons. The session also will identify other ways to handle emotions.
- Feb. 6 | “Where do I go from here?”
The program will end with a session on developing strategies for long-term success. Participants will be guided on what they need to do to continue to maintain their positive diet and lifestyle changes.
