CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – They say it takes a village to raise a child, but what about the support many families may need in the first days of their new child’s life? As the medical staff in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit within Chambersburg Hospital’s Family Birthing Unit is offering advanced and specialized care, other needed support is already being felt through the gifts of others.
“Members of the Chambersburg Area Hospital Auxiliary and many others have generously donated toward medical equipment to the unit,” explained Beth Stephey, Donor Relations and Annual Giving Officer. “With the addition of the new Family Tree, we are offering a way for all community members to get involved, celebrate special milestones, and support these wonderful new services being offered to newborns.”
Chambersburg Hospital is inviting all members of the community to join this special effort to help support those services. A beautiful new Family Tree is on display in the lobby of the Family Birthing Unit. Community members can add a leaf, heart or branch with their child’s name and birthdate placed on the tree with a donation to support Family Birthing Services.
“Adding a leaf or heart to the tree is a truly meaningful way to recognize special milestones, such as a new baby, or the birthday of someone special, while helping the newest members of our community,” Stephey said.
Gifts to the Family Tree Program support Family Birthing Services and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. For more information on giving to this project, please visit SummitHealth.org/FamilyTree or call the Chambersburg Hospital Development Office at (717) 267-7794.
