CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Eight area residents, who plan to pursue or are pursuing health care careers, were honored as the recipients of the Medical Staff Scholarship Award at Chambersburg Hospital’s medical staff meeting earlier this month.
Moses Asempah is a resident of Chambersburg. A native of Ghana, he traveled to the United States on Nov. 7, 2013 and is now a permanent resident. In January 2015, he began to pursue his education at Penn State Mont Alto where he is majoring in Pre-Medicine.
Richaela Cowan is a graduate of at Chambersburg Area Senior High School, where she achieved a 4.59 GPA. She is the daughter of Richard and Wendy Cowan of Chambersburg. She plans to pursue a Biology/Pre-Med degree at the University of Pittsburgh and continue her Medical Degree to become a Plastic Surgeon.
Alana Ebbitt is a graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Ebbitt of Greencastle. She plans to attend Penn State University in the fall pursuing a degree in Biology/Pre-Med and continue the six-year program to become a Physician’s Assistant.
Grace Greenlee is a graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School, where she will be achieved a 4.168 GPA. She is the daughter of Brad and Jennifer Greenlee of Greencastle. She is enrolled to attend the Duquesne University 5-year Physician’s Assistant Studies Program in the fall.
Erin Hoffman is a graduate of James Buchanan High School. She graduated with a 4.22 GPA. Erin resides with her parents Kevin and Kimberly Hoffman in St. Thomas. She plans to attend Gettysburg College in the fall, obtain a Master’s Degree in Biology, and continue her education to become a Pediatric Oncologist.
Alyssa Jones is the daughter of Albert and Tina Jones of Newville. Alyssa is a Pre-Med student currently enrolled and completing her 3rd year at Susquehanna University where she is majoring in Biology and Health Care Studies. She holds a 3.977 GPA and is ranked 5th in her class of 457.
Hannah Piper resides with her parents, John and Julie Piper, in Waynesboro. Hannah is a graduate of Waynesboro Senior High School where she was ranked 3rd in her class of 303 students. Hannah plans to pursue a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Megan Summers is a resident of Greencastle where she lives with her parents, Mark and Kathy Jones. She graduated from Greencastle-Antrim High School with a GPA of 4.32. Megan plans to attend Bucknell University in the fall and pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience.
