CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – A delegation from South Korea involved with the upcoming development at the former Fort Ritchie military base toured Waynesboro and Chambersburg hospitals Thursday to research technologies employed there and help direct their plans for the Cascade, Md., site.
In Waynesboro, the delegation toured newly renovated Critical Care Unit rooms and learned about how telemedicine is used when specialists, such as neurologists, aren’t on site, but confer with hospital physicians and nurses on cases like stroke.
“I love sharing our technology and what we have at Waynesboro Hospital with people from outside our community,” said Amber Rephann, manager of Patient Services in the CCU. “It’s exciting to show all the things we have at our community hospital.”
The group also toured the diagnostic imaging suite.
In August 2016, Waynesboro Hospital kicked of a multiphase renovation project with technical additions and cosmetic updates to help offer an even better experience to those being cared for and ensure the hospital will be able to continue providing exceptional care to patients.
In Chambersburg Hospital, the group toured the emergency department, lab and inpatient areas.
Following the tours, Summit Health officials met with members of the delegation, comprised of representatives from Daegu Hanny University and JGBLI.
They discussed future partnerships regarding educational opportunities between the university and Summit Health, including educating providers in Franklin County on different pain management techniques including Accupuncture.
“These meetings are really exciting to us here at Summit Health because we know that the relationships we build have the benefit of bringing eastern medicine to Franklin County”, explained Senior Vice President for Physician Services Niki Hinckle.
Additional details for the partnership are expected to be finalized in coming months.
