Tamara "Tammy" Smith, Chambersburg

I had been having weird chest pains throughout the previous day. I thought they would go away. I was only 49 years old. I didn't think I could be having a heart attack.

After trying to sleep, I woke up with the pain again and knew there was a problem. My husband, Terry, drove me to the Chambersburg Hospital. I entered the emergency room around 5 a.m. and by 7 a.m. I had been taken to the cardiac catheterization unit, had a stent placed, and was in my room at the hospital.

The pains were gone. If there were no interventional cardiology services in Chambersburg, I wouldn't be here today.

Mrs. Smith underwent successful opening of a 100% blocked artery with a stent in 73 minutes of her presentation. She recovered completely with no permanent damage to her heart muscle.
