Waynesboro Hospital receives state and national recognition for superior patient care
10/03/2012
WAYNESBORO, Pa.– Waynesboro Hospital is receiving state and national recognition from two separate agencies for outstanding performance.
The hospital received the Pennsylvania Department of Health’s (PADOH) “Above and Beyond Award for Excellence in Health Care Compliance,” Tuesday. Waynesboro Hospital is one of only seven hospitals statewide to receive the award.
According to the PADOH, this award was presented to Waynesboro Hospital because the 62-bed, non-profit hospital demonstrated superior performance in following the agency’s regulations.
“By showing excellence in complying with state regulations, you help the department safeguard the health and welfare of the citizens of this commonwealth,” said PADOH Deputy Secretary of Quality Assurance Anna Marie Sossong to a crowd of hospital employees Tuesday.
“It is our hope that you will inspire other hospitals to follow your lead,” Sossong continued.
Waynesboro Hospital was also recently awarded The Joint Commission’s “Top Performer Award.” The award was given to the top 18 percent of hospitals across the country for their excellence in using evidence-based treatments to care for patients.
According to Waynesboro Hospital’s Interim Administrative Director Melissa Dubrow, both awards are the result of excellence from every member of the hospital team.
“The knowledge, skill, caring hearts, and warm smiles that all of our great people bring to work everyday is what really makes the difference for our patients,” Dubrow explained.
These two awards arrived at a special time as Waynesboro Hospital is celebrating their 90th anniversary this year.
“Ninety years ago, a community stood together and built a hospital to provide care for their neighbors,” Dubrow said. “Ninety years later, an award-winning hospital, continually recognized for exceptional care, still stands, ready to serve.”
