WAYNESBORO, Pa. Summit Cardiology, an affiliate of Summit Health, has opened a second location.

The Chambersburg-based practice began seeing patients at Waynesboro Hospital, 501 E. Main St., Waynesboro, on July 2. The office is located on the first floor near the endoscopy and cardiopulmonary testing area.

Providers at Summit Cardiology have treated inpatients at Waynesboro Hospital for several years, but are now offering office consultations to the community.

Summit Cardiology provides a variety of services including office consultations, prevention services, diagnostic tests, and heart health and treatment options.

“We’re excited to be able to bring heart care closer to our neighbors in the Waynesboro community,” said Dr. Arshad Safi, interventional cardiologist with Summit Cardiology. “Our entire team is knowledgeable and compassionate. We treat everyone with the care you want and the care you would want for your loved ones. That’s important to us.”

The practice plans to offer their wide range of services in Waynesboro, while they continue to offer their award-winning services at the Chambersburg location.

Live-saving heart care

Interventional cardiologists at Summit Cardiology will continue to perform diagnostic and life-saving cardiac catheterizations and angioplasty and stenting at Chambersburg Hospital.

“The industry standard door-to-balloon time, or the time it takes to get a patient from the door of the emergency room to an unblocked artery is 90 minutes,” Safi said. “In May, we averaged 31 minutes at Chambersburg Hospital.”
More convenient office visits

“After an emergency procedure like an interventional heart cath, you will definitely need to see your cardiologist for follow-up care,” Safi said. “We wanted to make that more convenient for our all of our patients in the southern part of the county, so we are excited about this expansion into Waynesboro.”

The Chambersburg office is located at 755 Norland Avenue, Chambersburg.
