CHAMBERSBURG, Pa – Six area organizations recently received grants from Summit Endowment to aid them in implementing or continuing programs to benefit the community.

Grants were awarded to:

Chambersburg Hospital Research Department’s Cardiac Intervention Medication Program to provide the first month of essential medications to cardiac interventional patients who are uninsured or underinsured until they are able to secure or become eligible for other financial aid.

Keystone Health Dental Care’s Infant and Toddler Cavities Prevention Program to place a Public Health Dental Hygiene Practitioner in our community to provide tooth decay prevention education at birthing classes, at the school district’s kindergarten enrollment nights, and through other local agencies.

Healthy Communities Partnership’s Look What We’re Not Doing! Program to provide eye-catching, youth-friendly, and relevant posters around Franklin County secondary schools to address adolescent substance use and risky behavior.

The House of Grace’s Healthy Living Choices Program to provide a series of nutrition education and exercise classes with a three-month follow-up session to address the multiple health issues experienced by participants at the House of Grace.

Keystone Health Behavioral Health’s Stress-Less for Healthy Living Program to help individuals with mental health disorders, through the group therapy process, to deal with their illness and the stress it causes by developing positive life skills in the area of nutrition and fitness.

LIFE Lutheran Services, Inc,’s Diabetes Prevention and Maintenance Program to elevate awareness of the risks of diabetes and to encourage behaviors that help LIFE program participants monitor and control their own conditions.

The mission of the Summit Endowment is to identify and address the communities’ health needs and to encourage development of programs and activities of non-profit organizations that will measurably improve the health of people in the area.
