Shani Gadwaw earns heart failure nurse certification

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa.- The American Association of Heart Failure Nurses (AAHFN) has announced that Shani Gadwaw, CRNP-C, of Summit Cardiology, has become a Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN).

There are only 552 CHFNs worldwide. According to the association, the heart failure nurse certification "demonstrates that [Gadwaw] has specialized knowledge in heart failure and disease management."

"Heart failure certification is a mark of excellence which validates a nurse's expertise against national standards," said Peggy Kirkwood, RN, MSN, ACNPC, CHFN, AACC, AAHFN's current president. "Certified heart failure nurses are a role model for professional accountability, distinguishing themselves through professional accountability. In addition, CHFN certification provides patients and their families with confirmation that the nurse caring for them has demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in the complex specialty of heart failure care."

"We are proud to have Shani Gadwaw, CRNP-C represent Summit Cardiology as a CHFN," said Aylmer Tang, MD, Medical Director for Summit Cardiology and Chambersburg Hospital Interventional Lab. "We are committed to exceptional heart failure care for our patients and Shani's skill & determination have been demonstrated in acquiring this distinction."
