SHADY GROVE, Pa. – Shady Grove Family Care has welcomed Nurse Practitioner Paula Townsley to their practice.
Townsley joins the practice with more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse having spent time working as an intensive care unit and emergency room nurse, as a long-term care nurse, and as a school nurse.
Four years ago, she went back to school at George Washington University in Washington, DC, to receive her nurse practitioner certification and specialize in adult gerontology.
“I really enjoy this aspect of nursing, which allows me to care for patients from adolescence into adulthood, helping them stay healthy throughout their life,” Townsley said.
She believes that adolescents are in a unique position to adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors now that will prevent chronic medical illnesses later in life.
“Getting to know some of our older patients has been very rewarding because they have a story and have lived through things we just cannot imagine. I really enjoy getting to know them and learn their stories.”
Outside of work, Townsley enjoys a variety of hobbies including keeping up-to-date on medical and health news, shopping, visiting family, serving as a parish nurse at King Street Church, and riding her motorcycle.
Shady Grove Family Care is located at 1964 Buchanan Trail East, Shady Grove. For more information or to make an appointment, call (717) 597-7131.
