11/05/2013

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Are you experiencing frequent urination and extreme fatigue? What about blurry vision?  According to Dr. Tiffany Morton, an endocrinologist with Summit Endocrinology, you could be experiencing symptoms of diabetes.

“Common symptoms of diabetes are sometimes overlooked,” said Morton. “But, it’s important if you aren’t feeling quite right to see your doctor.”

According to Morton, common symptoms of diabetes include:

  • Frequent Urinating
  • Feeling very thirsty
  • Feeling very hungry - even though you are eating often
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Weight loss - even though you are eating more
  • Tingling, pain, or numbness in the hands/feet

Woman with gestational diabetes often have no symptoms, Morton said. So, that is why prenatal checkups by your doctor are so important.

“Pregnant women around the 24-week mark should be screened for gestational diabetes,” Morton explained.

“Although there is no cure for diabetes, it can be managed,” she said. “So, please, talk to your doctor about your risks for diabetes or symptoms you may be experiencing.”

According to Morton, the team at Summit Endocrinology can help manage all aspects of diabetes – including prevention of complications, self-management, and prescriptions.

The practice, located at 757 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, also offers on-site diabetes education and nutrition counseling.  Call (717) 217-6820 to make an appointment.
