Hospital echocardiography lab renews accreditation
WAYNESBORO, Pa. – The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) granted Waynesboro Hospital accreditation in April 2013. This designation recognizes the hospital’s echocardiography laboratory for its commitment to high quality patient care and testing.
According to Krista Serpi, cardiovascular team leader at Waynesboro Hospital, early detection of life threatening heart disorders and other diseases is possible through the use of Echocardiography procedures.
“The skill of the person performing the test, the high quality of the equipment that we use, and the knowledge of our doctors are all critical to performing an accurate echocardiogram,” Serpi said. “In receiving accreditation from ICAEL, we can proudly say that our program has those critical elements in place, and we are ready when our neighbors need us.”
Serpi said the accreditation process is voluntary. Accreditation by the ICAEL means that Waynesboro Hospital’s echocardiography program has undergone a thorough review by a panel of experts.
