Chambersburg Hospital’s heart care team one of the best in America

10/08/2012

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Chambersburg Hospital is one of only 164 hospitals nationwide to receive the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s “National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR®) ACTION Registry® – Get with the Guidelines (GWTG™) Platinum Performance Achievement Award” for 2012.

According to cardiologist Arshad Safi, MD, the award recognizes Chambersburg Hospital’s success in developing a cardiology program that offers exceptional care for heart attack patients.

“This award shows that our community hospital can treat patients with higher standards of care and safety than even many of the large academic centers in the country,” Safi said. “We are offering our patients nationally recognized heart care.”

Chambersburg Hospital’s heart care team is no stranger to awards. This year, the hospital was the only one in PA to receive the American Heart Association’s “Mission: Lifeline Gold Performance Achievement Award.”

Also this year, Aetna designated Chambersburg Hospital as an "Institute of Quality" for cardiac medical interventions. This recognition is only available to hospitals with heart care programs that have higher standards of care, treat a high number of heart patients, and have higher success rates for their patients.
