Building project planned at Waynesboro Hospital
WAYNESBORO, Pa. – Waynesboro Hospital has announced plans to build a medical office building which is slated to open in early 2015.
The medical office building will be located next to Waynesboro Hospital, 501 E. Main St., across from the Emergency Department entrance along Enterprise Avenue.
Hospital leaders are still working with architects to determine the final details, but early plans call for a three-story building, which will house physician practices. A walk-in care center may also be added.
Total cost for the building, including construction, furniture, equipment, and landscaping is estimated at $16 million.
According to hospital officials, the building will be designed with patients in mind, but it's also part of a strategy to attract new physicians to the area.
"We're competing with many other areas to hire doctors, and offering new facilities will give us an advantage," said Melissa Dubrow, Waynesboro Hospital's Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
The hospital plans to break ground for the construction project in September.
