MySummit Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is MySummit?
MySummit is a website you can use to securely view your health information from Summit Health’s medical records. You can view your imaging and lab test results, treatment notes or visit summary, health summary, medication information, message your doctor, request an appointment or a prescription refill and more.

2. Where does the information in the portal come from?
The information comes from your electronic medical records at Chambersburg Hospital, Waynesboro Hospital, Summit Physician Services or other service locations.

3. Is MySummit secure?
Yes. MySummit is a secure website.

4. Is there a fee?
No. MySummit is free and available for you to use every day, all day.

Two Portals

5. Will my Hospital portal be different then my Physician Office portal?
Yes. You will have two logins and two passwords if you choose to use both portals.

6. How will they be different?

The MySummit Physician Office portal will allow you to request prescription refills, message your doctor for non-urgent matters, request an appointment, download and print a health summary, and more.

The MySummit Hospital portal allows you to view any treatment notes or instructions from your in-hospital stay or out of hospital tests or procedures.

7. Why will you have multiple portals?
Our hospital systems and physician offices use two separate electronic medical record systems.  Your hospital portal will provide you with information on file with the hospital systems. Your physician office portal will provide you with the information at your doctor’s office.

8. Since there are two portals, do I have to sign up twice?
Yes. The location where you received service will be able to provide you with the simple sign in instructions. If you are having any trouble signing in, please call (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org.

9. How will I know when I have received a notification from my portal?
When a new notification is sent to your portal, you will receive an alert to the email address used to create the portal account.

10. How do I enroll in MySummit?
Summit Physician Services: For the physician office portal, you will receive an activation letter at your next appointment, along with your terms of conditions and instructions to create your physician office portal account. If you have trouble signing up, please call (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org

Hospital Portal: For the Chambersburg Hospital, Waynesboro Hospital, Summit Cancer & Hematology Services, and Dr. Roy A. Himelfarb Surgery Center portal, you will be provided with important enrollment information. It will include your medical record number and the email that is on file in our record system. If you have not recently visited one of our facilities, you will need to call our medical records office to verify your identity and receive enrollment information.

11. How do I choose a secure password?
Instructions for log-on, and password information will be provided to you after you visit a Summit Health service site.

12. Who else will see my portal account?
Your MySummit account is protected by your password. The information is only available to you.  If you want to give someone else permission to see your account, you can set up proxy access. If you have a child or are a caregiver of an adult and would like to see their health information, you can set up proxy access.

Summit Physician Offices and Summit Cancer and Hematology proxy access will be coming soon.

13. What is a proxy access?
Proxy access enables individuals to view a child's, family member's or partner's online health information. Legally, no one can be granted that access until the proper legal paperwork has been filed with the hospital or physician office.

Forgot Username/Password

15. What if I forget my password?
Summit Physician Services Portal: Click on "Forgot Password" and a new password will be provided to you.

Hospital Portal: Click on "forgot password" on the Log On/Login screen. If you follow the prompts and are still having trouble, please contact us at (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org.  We will respond within 1 business day and provide you with your password.

16. What if I forget my username?
Summit Physician Services Portal: For the physician office portal, please click on “Forgot login name” on the Login screen.

Hospital Portal: Please contact us at (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org. We will respond within 1 business day and provide you with your username.

17. What if MySummit isn’t working?
Use the “Contact Us” link inside the MySummit portal or contact us at (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org and our support team will respond within 1 business day.

Medical Questions

18. What if I have questions about what my medical information means to me?
Please contact your doctor to talk about information in your MySummit portal.

19. What if I need to update my information?

Summit Physician Services Portal: You can make changes, or request changes to your chart directly in your portal, anytime.

Hospital Portal:  If you have questions about the info in your portal or want to make changes to the information you are seeing in MySummit, contact us at (717) 262-4488 or email helpdesk@summithealth.org and our support team will respond within 1 business day.

20. What if I need medical advice?
Do not send urgent messages requiring medical advice through the portal. If you need to speak to your doctor about a medical condition, please call your doctor’s office directly.

21. What if I have questions about my bill or my insurance?
