Considered the future of minimally invasive surgery, this system features a surgeon’s console and a patient-side unit with four interactive robotic arms that mimic the surgeon’s movements.
The technology allows surgeons greater dexterity and range of motion while offering a magnified, high-resolution, 3-D view of the tissue.
Although the system includes a robotic component, each surgery will still be performed by a human surgeon. The robotic component of the system simply gives the surgeon greater precision with the instruments.
The da Vinci Si surgical system is currently being used for prostate and kidney surgeries, but the hospital hopes to use the system for gynecologic, colorectal, ENT, and general surgery procedures in the future.
Not all patients are candidates for surgery using the da Vinci Si system, so ask your doctor about the option that is right for you.
